World-Renowned Education Non-profit Recognizes Dr. Kristi Smith for Commitment to Excellence in Education

Dallas— Children’s Lighthouse Franchise Company, the leading early learning school franchise, announced today that its Director of Education and Training, Dr. Kristi Smith, has been appointed to serve on Cognia’s Texas Advisory Board.

“I’m incredibly grateful to be asked by the leaders of Cognia to share my expertise and to influence accreditation policy development for Texas schools,” said Smith. “Cognia has always provided valuable feedback and support to the Children’s Lighthouse Early Learning School franchise. Serving on this advisory board will allow me to help the children of Texas receive the highest quality of education. It will also provide me with better insight into how to use Cognia’s accreditation resources to better serve the thousands of children in the schools of our franchise company.”

Cognia, the world’s largest non-profit education community, offers accreditation and certification, assessment, and professional services to more than 36,000 public and private institutions from early learning through high school in more than 90 countries. As part of the Cognia Texas Advisory Board, Smith will be responsible for providing tailored insight and guidance to Cognia leaders in Texas to strengthen their policies and procedures, enhance school effectiveness, and enhance teacher effectiveness and achievement.

Smith also played a key role in working with the Children’s Lighthouse organization, comprised of over 65 independently owned schools nationwide, to apply for and receive re-accreditation from Cognia for a second term. The accreditation is based on a set of three performance standards: leadership capacity, learning capacity, and resource capacity, which together determine the capacity of an organization to provide quality educational practices and meet the rigorous demands of continued school improvement.

“Dr. Kristi’s guidance and dedication throughout the reaccreditation process were instrumental in our company’s success. It’s no surprise that the Cognia team recognized not only her skills and tenacity, but her passion for providing high-quality educational opportunities,” said Michael Brown, President of Children’s Lighthouse Franchise Company. “We’re enthused that her years of hard work have been acknowledged by such a prestigious organization, and we’re proud to call her part of the Children’s Lighthouse family.”

Children’s Lighthouse Franchise Company aims to give franchisees the tools, guidance, and opportunity to operate a profitable business that is designed to give children a safe, loving place to learn, make friends, and build confidence. Children’s Lighthouse Early Learning Schools do this by partnering with parents to develop children through three age-appropriate curriculums designed with the specific needs of children in mind. Additionally, franchisees across the network are actively involved with their local communities and regularly give back through volunteering, donations, and more.
